A special inflight concert will be presented by Air New Zealand on 4 December 2025. Flight NZ1331 from Auckland to Sydney will feature SYNTHONY in the Sky, a live concert in the air blending electronic music with orchestral sounds. The service will depart Auckland at 4:20 pm, turning a regular trans-Tasman journey into an event that integrates travel with live performance at altitude.

The onboard program will feature Shapeshifter (DJ set) alongside DJ Dick Johnson and SYNTHONY guest performers. The performance is set to run during the flight across the Tasman, offering passengers an entertainment experience different from standard inflight services. Every ticket also includes entry to SYNTHONY No.5, which will take place on 5 December at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt, giving passengers direct access to a large-scale cultural event upon arrival.

For those on board, this service means combining essential transport with participation in a wider cultural program. Instead of traveling solely to reach a destination, passengers on NZ1331 will already be involved in an event before landing in Sydney. A one-way fare is set at NZD $549 and covers both the flight itself and access to the concert in Sydney, providing a streamlined way to connect the journey with leisure activities.

Once in Sydney, passengers arriving on this service will also have opportunities to visit several of the city’s best-known landmarks. The Sydney Opera House Forecourt will already serve as part of the experience, while Bondi Beach offers a chance to enjoy one of Australia’s most famous coastal settings. In addition, the Royal Botanic Garden provides a central green space for visitors seeking time outdoors in close proximity to the harbour.

Although limited to a single occasion, the service highlights how airlines may link air travel with cultural participation in new ways. For passengers, the journey represents more than transport, creating a connection between the flight and activities awaiting in Sydney. It demonstrates that flights can sometimes extend past basic travel, providing opportunities to engage with cultural and recreational events.
