Lithuania’s Winter Flights Bring the Alps Closer

Lithuania’s winter flying season begins on 25 October with more direct routes and additional departures across Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports. A new connection to Geneva will give skiers another way into the Alps, while extra services to several European capitals should make short breaks and connecting journeys easier to arrange. Vilnius alone will serve 20 capitals, compared with 18 last winter.
Lithuania’s Winter Flights: New Routes and Key Dates

- Booking: airBaltic for Geneva; Wizz Air for Berlin.
Compared with last winter, Vilnius gains an average of four additional weekly flights to both Warsaw and Helsinki. Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Stockholm and Brussels each gain one. Kaunas gets two extra Edinburgh services and one apiece to London, Liverpool, Alicante and Stockholm; Palanga gains more Copenhagen flights. More departures should give passengers additional choices when arranging connections through major European hubs.
Geneva Airport is around 88 km from Chamonix, with direct coaches and airport shuttles taking approximately 75–100 minutes, depending on the service and traffic. Wizz Air’s Grenoble flights also return for ski holidays. For warmer weather, Vilnius retains direct links to Tenerife, Barcelona, Malaga and Malta; Kaunas serves Alicante, Malaga and Paphos. Prague and Reykjavik remain on the winter schedule for city breaks, with Reykjavik flights increasing in December.
With direct flights scheduled in both directions on Saturdays, a seven-night ski holiday is the easiest option. Shorter stays would require a connecting flight in at least one direction. Before booking, check the return flight and transfer times, particularly if bringing ski equipment: airBaltic charges separately for most sports gear and has limited space for it. Holiday charters to Sharm El Sheikh are planned from all three airports. The Lithuanian Airports route map helps passengers find destinations and operators.
