TAP Air Portugal has initiated the closing phase of its Altitude Film Festival, which allows passengers to select their favorite short films while traveling on long-distance routes. Travelers can join the voting through the airline's onboard entertainment portal, with the option to participate open until the end of October. This engaging initiative invites passengers to take part in the festival experience during their flight.

The festival, which attracted numerous entries across both documentary and fictional genres, has now been trimmed down to ten finalists. A team of cinema professionals reviewed the entries earlier in the year. Throughout October, travelers are invited to view the films and cast their selections, contributing to the decision on which films will win recognition at the end of the festival.

The Altitude Film Festival offers a diverse lineup of short films, split into two key categories: fiction and documentary. Five films from each category have been chosen for the final round. This initiative seeks to spotlight rising filmmaking talent from different regions, offering an international platform for up-and-coming directors. The selected films cover a variety of subjects, giving passengers a vibrant entertainment option during their journey.

The festival will wrap up with an awards ceremony in early November, taking place in Lisbon. The top films in both categories will receive a travel prize worth several thousand euros, providing the filmmakers with the means to continue their work and discover fresh creative opportunities. These prizes not only celebrate artistic merit but also encourage filmmakers to broaden their horizons by exploring new destinations.

For travelers, the Altitude Film Festival introduces more than just traditional in-flight entertainment. It offers a rare chance to engage with a cultural event while in the air, enriching the travel experience. Voting for the films directly on board adds an interactive aspect, making the flight experience more immersive and rewarding.

Moreover, this innovation could inspire other airlines to develop similar onboard cultural programs, offering passengers a more engaging experience during long journeys. TAP Air Portugal continues to push the boundaries and bring more value to its customers beyond the standard in-flight services.
