A ribbon-cutting ceremony at Stockholm Arlanda Airport marked the first Norse Atlantic Airways flight from Stockholm to Bangkok on 22 October 2025. The new route connects Sweden and Thailand directly for the first time, boosting long-haul links between Northern Europe and Southeast Asia ahead of the 2025/2026 winter season. The flight carried a full load of 338 passengers departing from Terminal 5 at 16:00 CET yesterday.

The launch drew plenty of interest at Arlanda, with travellers eager to take advantage of a faster route to Thailand. Many of the first passengers were heading off for winter escapes to Bangkok and the islands, skipping the usual stopovers in other European hubs. The new flight gives Swedes a direct path to Southeast Asia’s warmth just as the cold season begins at home. It also signals the start of Norse Atlantic’s growing presence in the Nordic long-haul market.

The new Stockholm–Bangkok route is one of several Norse Atlantic services to Thailand this winter. The airline also plans to operate flights between Stockholm and Phuket, as well as Oslo and Phuket, complementing its connections from London Gatwick and Manchester. Thailand’s place as one of Europe’s favourite long-distance destinations grows stronger with this route, giving passengers more options and quicker journeys between the two regions.

The route opens more opportunities for Swedish holidaymakers seeking Thailand’s warmth during the winter months. Bangkok’s streets, markets, and food spots are now within easy reach, and from there it’s simple to continue to beach towns like Krabi, Chiang Mai, or Koh Samui. At the same time, Thai visitors gain direct access to Stockholm’s historic city centre, northern landscapes, and Scandinavian design.

The route shows that interest in travel between Europe and Asia keeps growing. A direct link like Stockholm-Bangkok saves time and supports steady movement for tourism, work, and trade between Sweden and Thailand. With more winter flights ahead, Norse Atlantic gives passengers a clear, affordable option for long journeys. It also reflects how smaller airlines are now filling the gaps left by larger carriers.
