New Nonstop Flights from Birmingham to Fort Lauderdale by Spirit Airlines

Spirit Airlines announced that it will commence its first operations in Alabama with a new nonstop route from Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), starting October 10, 2024. This marks the airline's debut in the state, bringing more affordable travel options to local passengers.

The new daily service aims to offer a convenient travel alternative for Birmingham residents looking to visit the popular destination of Fort Lauderdale. The route will also facilitate easier connections to Latin America and the Caribbean through Fort Lauderdale.

To celebrate the launch, Spirit Airlines is offering special introductory fares starting at $69 for one-way travel between October 10 and November 19, 2024. These fares require a 14-day advance purchase and are available for a limited time.

"This is a great day for our community," said Darlene Wilson, Vice-Chair of the Birmingham Airport Authority Board. "Spirit Airlines is showing a tremendous amount of confidence in this market, and we are thrilled to have this new option available to travelers."

The new service includes several enhancements aimed at improving passenger experience, such as no change or cancel fees, increased checked bag weight allowance, and extended expiration dates for travel vouchers issued on or after June 3, 2024. Spirit Airlines also boasts a young and fuel-efficient fleet, offering additional comfort features and fast onboard Wi-Fi.

The addition of Spirit Airlines to BHM is expected to boost travel accessibility and provide Birmingham residents with more affordable flight options to popular destinations.
