New Luxury Stays Are Coming to Italy
Italy is getting a fresh run of high-end hotel and spa openings, with Hyatt, IHG and Dior-linked wellness all adding new reasons to plan a city or coastal break. The pipeline covers Rome, Milan, Turin, Alberobello and Taormina, with new hotel brands, extra rooms and a permanent Dior Spa at Grand Hotel Timeo in Sicily.
New Italian openings to watch
- Hyatt in Rome: Hyatt Regency Rome Central is planned near Termini station, while Thompson Rome will open in a heritage building near the Colosseum and Roman Forum
- Hyatt in Sicily: Park Hyatt Taormina is scheduled for 2028, with 121 suites planned with terraces facing the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna
- IHG in Milan: A dual-branded Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites hotel is planned for the NoLo district in January 2027
- IHG in Turin: Garner Hotel Turin Porta Nuova is expected in mid-2027 opposite Torino Porta Nuova railway station
- IHG in Puglia: Hotel Indigo Apulia Alberobello is scheduled for 2028 near the UNESCO-listed trulli town
- Dior in Taormina: Dior Spa Grand Hotel Timeo is now a permanent wellness address in Sicily
Hyatt is adding three Italian projects, with Rome getting the first two. Hyatt Regency Rome Central is planned near Termini station with 238 rooms, a rooftop pool and an Asian-inspired restaurant. Thompson Rome will bring 69 rooms to a heritage building close to the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Piazza Venezia, giving the lifestyle brand a central Roman address.
IHG’s pipeline is spread across Milan, Turin and Puglia. Milan’s NoLo district will get a dual-branded Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites property in January 2027, while Garner Hotel Turin Porta Nuova is planned opposite the city’s main railway station in mid-2027. Hotel Indigo Apulia Alberobello is scheduled for 2028 near the UNESCO-listed trulli town.
The strongest travel angle is the spread of new stays beyond the usual Rome-and-Milan route. Turin becomes easier for rail-based city breaks, Alberobello gets a branded hotel near one of Puglia’s best-known sights, and Taormina adds both future Park Hyatt plans and Dior’s permanent spa at Grand Hotel Timeo. Several openings are still planned, so dates should be checked before booking.
