New Direct Link: Wizz Air to Launch Vilnius–Reykjavík Route in March 2026
Wizz Air has confirmed a new direct connection between Vilnius and Reykjavík, expanding its presence in Lithuania and strengthening links with Northern Europe. The route will begin on 30 March 2026 and run twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. This adds Iceland back into the airline’s network from Vilnius following a period of rapid growth during 2025, which included several new city links and increased investment in the airline’s Lithuanian base.
One of the main draws of this new route is Reykjavík’s mix of nature and urban life. Reykjavík works well as a base for visiting Iceland’s best-known sights, including the Blue Lagoon, the Golden Circle, volcanic areas, and some of the country’s most striking waterfalls. Within the capital itself, visitors find small cafés, museums, views over the harbour, and an active arts scene. With two weekly flights, people can plan either short breaks or longer trips without complicated connections.
Lithuanian Airports noted that bringing back the Vilnius–Reykjavík route keeps a direct option open for people who want to reach Iceland without connecting flights. Many travellers have already grown used to visiting Iceland during recent years, and the renewed route maintains a consistent option for returning visitors. Wizz Air has also stressed that the new flight fits into a wider expansion strategy, which includes several new routes across the region and increased aircraft allocation at the Vilnius base.
This year’s growth marks one of Wizz Air’s busiest periods in Lithuania. Between December 2025 and June 2026, the airline will open seven other new connections, linking Vilnius and Palanga with Tallinn, Krakow, Tirana, Podgorica, Nice, Turku, and Oslo. In addition, direct flights between Vilnius and Gdańsk were added in October. With a third Airbus A321neo joining the Vilnius base, the airline plans to expand capacity, support local jobs, and secure its position among the country’s key carriers.
“We are excited to introduce the Vilnius–Reykjavík route, bringing one of Europe’s most extraordinary destinations closer to Lithuanian travellers. Iceland offers a unique blend of nature, culture, and adventure, and we are proud to expand our network with another inspiring destination. This addition reflects once again our continuous commitment to Lithuania and our mission to provide affordable and convenient travel options across Europe."
The return of the Reykjavík service gives Lithuanian passengers one more straightforward route to a destination that is both distinctive and easy to navigate. With Iceland known for its scenery, open spaces, hot springs, and quiet coastal towns, this new link makes planning a northern getaway simpler, whether someone wants a long weekend among city streets or a week exploring Iceland’s famous natural landmarks.
