Mallorca Tops New Ranking of Europe’s Best Family Holiday Spots
A new Family Holiday Index released by easyJet and easyJet Holidays has named Palma de Mallorca as the best destination in Europe for a family holiday. The ranking arrives ahead of the Easter travel period and focuses on places that make trips with children easier and more enjoyable. Spain dominates the results, taking six positions in the top ten and reinforcing its long-standing popularity among families travelling across Europe.
The index assessed destinations based on practical details families tend to consider before booking. These included flight times of four hours or less, the availability of beaches and pools, access to attractions such as waterparks and mini-golf, everyday holiday costs and how easy airports are to navigate with children. The goal was to highlight locations where travel logistics, entertainment options and affordability combine in a manageable way for family trips.
"Family holidays are all about simplicity: easy flights and packages, easy transfers, destinations and resorts where there’s plenty to keep children entertained."
Mallorca’s capital, Palma, takes the top position thanks to its mix of sandy beaches, family attractions and straightforward airport access. Aquariums, waterparks and coastal boat trips provide a wide choice of activities without requiring long journeys across the island. Portugal’s Algarve takes second place, offering calm Atlantic beaches, small seaside towns and activities such as dolphin-watching trips and coastal cliff walks.
Top family holiday destinations in the new index
- Palma de Mallorca – 1st place
- Algarve – 2nd place
- Costa del Sol – 3rd place
- Sardinia – 6th place
- Crete – 7th place
Many of these locations are known for beaches suitable for children and resorts built around family-focused activities. Spain’s Costa Blanca, Ibiza and coastal areas near Barcelona also appear in the wider top ten, further highlighting the country’s strong presence in the ranking.
With Easter nearing, the list again points to Mediterranean destinations that families often pick for holidays. In many of these places, beaches, resorts and attractions sit close together. That makes day-to-day plans easier and helps avoid long transfers, which can quickly turn into a challenge when travelling with children.
