InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has opened its first hotel in Brisbane’s central business district. Located on Elizabeth Street near Queen Street Mall, the 25-story building offers 319 rooms. This new hotel boost comes as Brisbane gears up for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The hotel’s combination of new and historic elements reflects Brisbane’s ongoing development as a travel destination.

A major renovation is planned for 2026 to enhance guest services and modernize the hotel. Current amenities include:

  • Multiple meeting rooms
  • Event spaces
  • An outdoor lap pool
  • Dining venues

InterContinental is strengthening its foothold in Queensland with this latest hotel, alongside its existing properties at the Gold Coast and Great Barrier Reef. These improvements are designed to meet the expected growth in tourism over the next few years.

Visitors to Brisbane can explore nearby attractions such as the South Bank Parklands, known for its riverside walking paths and green spaces. Visitors to Kangaroo Point Cliffs can enjoy both outdoor climbing and panoramic city vistas. Climbing the Story Bridge gives visitors a rare chance to take in sweeping views of Brisbane from above. These spots bring nature and outdoor activities within easy reach of the city.

Other notable places accessible to travelers include Eagle Street Pier, a waterfront precinct with diverse dining options and river views. Cruising along the Brisbane River by ferry gives visitors a slower, scenic look at the city. Beyond gallery walls, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre draws crowds with its diverse lineup of live events. For many travelers, these places are what turn a short stay into a memorable one.
