W Hotels has opened W Sardinia – Poltu Quatu on the island’s northeast coast, following a preview in 2025. The hotel sits between Porto Cervo and Baia Sardinia, overlooking Marina dell’Orso in the village of Poltu Quatu. The development adds to the brand’s presence in Italy, alongside its existing properties in Rome and Florence, marking its first opening in Sardinia.

The property has 157 rooms and suites designed by Meyer Davis, with architecture by DE.TALES. Interiors draw on local materials and forms, with references to Sardinian landscapes and traditions. Public areas include a marina-facing restaurant, lounge spaces, pool terrace, spa and fitness centre. Artworks by local artists are placed throughout the hotel, adding a clear Sardinian touch to the interiors.

Dining is led by chef Antonio Bitetto, with a focus on Sardinian ingredients and coastal cuisine. TANIT restaurant serves seafood overlooking the marina, while other spaces host desserts, cocktails and evening events. The hotel also plans a programme of activities involving local artisans, food producers and performers, alongside outdoor options such as hiking, boat trips and wellness sessions.

What becomes easier to reach from Poltu Quatu

  • La Maddalena Archipelago by boat
  • Caprera island for day trips and beaches
  • Porto Cervo and Costa Smeralda coastline
  • Inland hiking areas and coastal viewpoints
  • Small coves and swimming spots along the northeast coast

With a marina on site, the hotel provides direct access to parts of Sardinia that are usually reached by organised excursions. Coastal routes, nearby islands and quieter bays become simpler to include in a single stay, without long transfers between locations.

This opening adds another accommodation option in an area already known for seasonal demand. It places more focus on the northeast coast as a base for exploring both popular resorts and less crowded spots nearby. For anyone planning to visit Sardinia, it means one more place to stay near Porto Cervo, with simple access to beaches, small bays and nearby islands.
