Finnair Puts Turku and Tampere Back on the Map
Finnair will restore flights serving Turku and Tampere in October 2026, bringing both Finnish cities back into the airline’s network through Helsinki Airport. The routes are aimed at passengers who need smoother access to Finnair’s international connections, including around 90 destinations in Europe, 11 in Asia, seven in North America and one in Australia.
Flight Times Through Helsinki
The new schedule is built around Helsinki Airport connections:
- Helsinki–Tampere: 23:50–00:20 +1, daily
- Tampere–Helsinki: 06:00–06:35, daily
- Tampere–Helsinki: 12:20–12:50, daily
- Helsinki–Turku: 23:50–00:20 +1, daily
- Turku–Helsinki: 06:00–06:35, daily
- Turku–Helsinki: 11:55–12:30, daily
The flights will be operated with ATR aircraft with 68–70 seats.
Finnair replaced flights to Turku and Tampere with bus services in 2022 and 2023. When the routes return, daytime bus links will continue, but the late-night bus service will be removed and replaced by the overnight flight. Tickets are already on sale through Finnair and travel agencies, giving regional passengers another option before the October launch.
The return of these flights also makes both cities easier to add to Finland trips. Tampere brings lakeside saunas, museums, the Pyynikki observation tower and nearby nature within easier reach. Turku offers the Aura River, Turku Castle, the cathedral and ferry connections. The routes matter most for people who want these cities without building the whole journey around Helsinki.
For people in Turku and Tampere, the change mainly removes one awkward part of the journey: the late road transfer to or from Helsinki Airport. The flights will not replace daytime buses, but they give passengers a better option when a trip starts early, ends late or depends on a tight international connection.
