Delta is preparing a new generation of Delta One suites for its Airbus A350-1000 aircraft and plans to introduce the same suite concept to upgraded Airbus A330-200 and A330-300 cabins. The project follows two years of design work supported by long-term customer feedback. The airline continues developing its premium cabin layout, which already introduced all-suite business class seating earlier than most competitors in the United States market.

The updated suites include sliding privacy doors and a longer fully flat bed designed for improved sleeping comfort on long-haul routes. Seats will feature memory foam cushioning, storage spaces for personal items and tactile controls inspired by automotive design. Delta will also introduce larger 24-inch seatback screens with high-definition image quality, Bluetooth audio connectivity and USB-C and universal power outlets available in every cabin class.

Key features of the new Delta One suites

  • sliding privacy doors in business class suites
  • longer lie-flat beds with memory foam cushions
  • 24-inch high-definition seatback screens
  • Bluetooth connection for personal headphones
  • wireless charging and USB-C power outlets
  • self-serve snack area for Delta One cabin

The A350-1000 will offer a higher proportion of premium seats, representing about half of the aircraft cabin layout. Delta is also redesigning interiors across its A330-200 and A330-300 fleet, introducing suites on these aircraft for the first time. The airline expects the updated interior concept to appear on more than 800 aircraft within the next five years as deliveries of new aircraft continue alongside cabin refurbishments.

A350 and A330 aircraft are widely used on long-distance routes connecting North America with Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Passengers may notice fewer differences between aircraft when cabin layouts follow a similar structure. Seating with more privacy and improved comfort may be particularly beneficial on overnight flights or itineraries that cross several time zones.

The scale of the cabin upgrade reflects ongoing competition between airlines on long-distance routes, where onboard conditions play an increasing role in airline choice. Using a comparable suite layout across multiple aircraft types may help create a more familiar experience when booking business class. As refurbished interiors appear across hundreds of aircraft, features once available on limited routes may become more widely accessible on intercontinental flights.
