Bratislava Gets a Summer Shortcut to Mykonos
Wizz Air has launched a new direct route linking Bratislava Airport with the Greek island of Mykonos. Flights began on 8 June and will run twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, until 23 October. The service gives Slovakia a seasonal connection to one of the Aegean’s best-known islands and adds another Mediterranean option for summer holidays, short breaks and autumn sun.
The route is the 19th completely new regular service added at Bratislava Airport in 2026 and the 32nd destination offered by Wizz Air with direct departures from the Slovak capital. Wizz Air said Mykonos is one of the most sought-after summer destinations in the Mediterranean, with the airline presenting the service as an affordable option for Slovak holidaymakers looking beyond mainland resorts.
What to Know Before Booking
- Flights run on Mondays and Fridays, useful for long weekends or week-long stays
- The route is seasonal and currently listed until 23 October
- Mykonos Airport is close to Mykonos Town, but taxis and transfers can be limited in peak season
- Travellers should check Wizz Air baggage rules, seat fees and return flight times before booking
The launch follows new Wizz Air services to Podgorica and Tel Aviv, giving Bratislava three new routes in three weeks and a wider summer map.
The Mykonos service puts the island’s beaches, whitewashed streets and nightlife within easier reach without a connection. Visitors can use the route for Mykonos Town, Little Venice, the Kato Mili windmills and beach areas such as Agios Stefanos, Paradise and Super Paradise. The airport is around 4 km from Mykonos Town, with buses, taxis and rentals available after arrival.
This is a useful addition for anyone in Slovakia planning a Greek island break outside the usual package routes. Before booking, check baggage rules, seat fees and late-season schedules, as the service is seasonal and may not run beyond October. Mykonos is not a cheap island, so direct flights may save time, but hotels and transfers still need a proper budget check.
