American Airlines Plans Larger Admirals Club Lounge in Austin
American Airlines has announced plans to open a larger Admirals Club lounge at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, expanding its premium facilities for passengers travelling through the Texas capital. The new lounge will cover more than 12,000 square feet on the west side of the terminal, roughly doubling the airline’s current lounge space at the airport and introducing several new design features.
One of the most notable additions will be an outdoor terrace, a first within American’s Admirals Club network. The space will offer views across the airfield and towards downtown Austin. Construction is expected to begin this year, while the existing lounge will remain open during the work so passengers can continue using the facility while the expansion is underway.
“As we elevate our presence in Austin, we’re excited to bring a new level of comfort and hospitality to our customers. This new Admirals Club® lounge will reflect the vibrant spirit of Austin while offering the thoughtful design and premium amenities our customers expect."
Inside, the lounge will be organised into separate zones designed for different needs, including areas for relaxing, working, dining and recharging devices. The design will continue to reflect local Austin influences while maintaining the airline’s standard lounge style. The project forms part of American’s broader effort to upgrade premium spaces and strengthen its presence in Austin.
Lounge features planned for the new Admirals Club
- More than 12,000 sq ft of lounge space
- Outdoor terrace overlooking the airport
- Areas dedicated to relaxing, dining and working
- Premium drinks and refreshments including Lavazza coffee
- Champagne Bollinger available for purchase
With nearly 50 daily flights linking Austin to 11 destinations and connections onward to more than 350 cities worldwide, the expanded lounge will give passengers a more comfortable place to wait between flights. Travellers passing through the airport will have additional room to unwind, eat or work before departures, particularly during busy travel periods when existing lounge space can fill quickly.
