AirAsia X has celebrated the resumption of its flights from Kuala Lumpur to Changsha, the capital and largest city of Hunan Province in China. The inaugural flight took place on July 5, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s expanding network.

The inaugural flight, D7 352, departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) at 5:25 PM and landed at Changsha Huanghua International Airport at 10:30 PM. Passengers were warmly sent off by prominent figures including Dato’ Fam Lee Ee, Chairman of AirAsia X, and Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X.

With a passenger load factor exceeding 70 percent, the flight saw a substantial mix of travelers, with over 40 percent being Chinese tourists and more than 30 percent Malaysians. This indicates strong interest and connectivity between the two regions.

Changsha, known for its vibrant culture and rich history, has been recognized as one of China's top tourist destinations. The city's appeal extends to night tourism, making it a popular spot for both foreign and local visitors.

AirAsia X operates four weekly flights to Changsha, making it the airline’s sixth destination in China from Kuala Lumpur. This addition further strengthens AirAsia's position as the largest foreign low-cost carrier in the region, complementing its existing routes to Shanghai, Hangzhou, Beijing (Daxing), Chengdu (Tianfu), and Xi’an.

Overall, AirAsia Group flies to 17 destinations in China, reflecting its commitment to enhancing connectivity and providing affordable travel options. The resumption of the Kuala Lumpur to Changsha route is expected to boost tourism and business exchanges between Malaysia and China, fostering closer ties and economic growth.
