Stockholm Gets More Direct Cairo Flights This Winter

Stockholm travellers will get another non-stop option to Cairo this winter, with EGYPTAIR launching a year-round service from Arlanda in December. The airline is entering the Stockholm market with a route aimed at leisure, business and visiting-friends-and-family traffic, while Cairo also works as a connecting hub for journeys deeper into Egypt, the Middle East and Africa. The launch comes as direct competition on the route is also growing.
What to Know About the New Cairo Service
- Route: Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) to Cairo (CAI).
- Airline: EGYPTAIR.
- Launch date: 18 December 2026.
- Frequency: four flights a week.
- Operating days: Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Seasonality: year-round.
- Aircraft: Airbus A321neo with 182 seats in Business and Economy.
Stockholm already has non-stop flights to Cairo, so EGYPTAIR is not opening a completely new city pair. The useful change is extra choice: four more weekly departures and additional onward connection options through Cairo to destinations elsewhere in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa. That can make EGYPTAIR especially relevant for passengers planning a longer itinerary rather than a simple return trip to Cairo.
Cairo works well as a starting point for trips to Giza, Saqqara and the Nile Valley, so the new flight can fit both short city breaks and longer Egypt itineraries. After landing, passengers can reach central Cairo by taxi or public bus, with the main bus station outside Terminal 1. A free airport train also links Terminals 1, 2 and 3, which is useful for onward connections.
The new service adds four more weekly non-stop options and increases competition on a route that already has direct flights. That matters most for travellers comparing dates, fares and onward connections through Cairo. Anyone continuing beyond the Egyptian capital should compare connection times and through-ticket options before booking, particularly if the journey involves a terminal change at Cairo Airport.
