Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) began operating its first direct flight between Copenhagen and Seoul on September 12, 2025. At the start, the route operates four times weekly during the fall, with plans to expand to six weekly flights by June 2026. Flights are scheduled in the evening and use the Airbus A350, which accommodates around 300 passengers. The purpose of this route is to offer a seamless and direct link between Scandinavia and South Korea.

The new service allows easier travel between the two regions for both Scandinavian and Korean passengers. It also connects Seoul with Europe via Copenhagen, offering onward connections to over 100 destinations. The evening departure schedule is intended to optimize travel timing for passengers arriving from other European cities.

Seoul has a number of historical and cultural sites of interest. Gyeongbokgung Palace, built during the Joseon Dynasty, is the largest of the Five Grand Palaces. Bukchon Hanok Village features old Korean houses arranged in a traditional style, allowing visitors to get a genuine sense of historical architecture. Changdeokgung Palace, recognized by UNESCO, combines historic buildings with thoughtfully laid-out gardens, giving guests an immersive look into Korea’s royal past.

Seoul Tower on Namsan Mountain offers panoramic views of the city. Myeongdong district bustles with shops and eateries, inviting visitors to wander naturally through its streets and experience the area without effort. Meanwhile, the Starfield Library in COEX Mall impresses with its large, open design and inviting reading spaces, combining impressive architecture with a welcoming public area. Collectively, these spots showcase Seoul’s blend of historic charm and contemporary energy, offering visitors an engaging and complete view of the city.

"Seoul is a global center of culture, innovation, and business, and we are proud to add it to our growing intercontinental network."
Anko van der Werff, President & CEO of SAS

The introduction of direct flights from Copenhagen to Seoul makes traveling between these two regions more straightforward and comfortable for passengers. Flying directly cuts travel time versus connecting flights and can support increased tourism while fostering cultural exchange. Travelers from Europe can reach cities and cultural attractions in South Korea without changing planes, while travelers from Korea can more easily explore various destinations throughout Scandinavia. This route aligns with worldwide air travel patterns, reflecting a growing curiosity for long-distance trips linking multiple continents.
