Delta Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines System have formed a new codeshare collaboration, starting on September 25. This collaborative arrangement comes shortly following SAS’s entry into the SkyTeam alliance on September 1, and is designed to provide expanded travel opportunities for passengers flying between Scandinavia and North America. The partnership involves shared flight codes, enabling travelers to seamlessly book trips across the integrated flight networks of the two carriers.

This arrangement allows Delta travelers to have the chance to reach 50 more destinations across Northern Europe, with connections using SAS's main hubs located in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm. Travelers using SAS, on the other hand, will have the ability to access more than 150 locations throughout the United States, with routes through Delta's primary in cities like New York and Los Angeles, and Atlanta. This enhanced connectivity is set to offer a more efficient journey experience for the passengers of both carriers.

In parallel, SAS is making significant enhancements to its own services. As part of its plan to reintroduce business class on short-haul European flights by summer 2025, the airline is positioning itself as a premium option for both business and leisure travelers. This move, which includes upgraded cabins and services, aims to attract frequent flyers seeking greater comfort on regional routes.

The introduction of these new business-class services across European routes complements the expanded intercontinental options brought by the Delta-SAS partnership. Travelers can expect smoother connections and an easier comfortable experience, whether flying across the Atlantic or within Europe. The combined focus on better service and expanded routes underscores both carriers' commitment to elevating the entire travel experience.

For travelers, the collaborative arrangement means greater convenience and the ability to reach a wider variety of destinations. The partnership between Delta and SAS reduces the need for multiple bookings, making trip planning more straightforward. Additionally, frequent flyers will gain advantages from reciprocal loyalty programs, allowing for easier accumulating and using of miles between the two airlines.

Ultimately, this collaboration signifies a growing trend in the airline industry to provide more comprehensive global coverage for travelers. The expanded route options and improved services make this collaboration a welcome development for those looking for efficient and enjoyable international travel experiences.
