Barcelona Waterfront Stay Adds New Spa Option Away From City Crowds

SLS Barcelona has opened Halcyon Spa at its Port Fòrum waterfront location, adding a new wellness option on the quieter northeastern edge of the city. The opening gives visitors staying outside the historic centre access to spa facilities without travelling across Barcelona, particularly useful for short breaks built around beach walks, concerts or marina-side stays.
Designed by Rockwell Group, the spa draws on coastal surroundings rather than traditional hotel interiors. Entry begins through a blue-lit corridor leading into treatment and thermal areas organised around a central relaxation zone. Facilities include four treatment rooms, a double suite with private hot tub, sauna and steam rooms, plus an indoor pool positioned within the marina-facing complex.
Halcyon Spa partners with Barcelona skincare brand SEPAI, offering treatments that range from short facials to longer recovery sessions. Treatment times range from quick sessions to longer visits, allowing guests to fit a spa stop between city plans or evening outings. The format suits travellers arriving after flights, cruise departures or busy city days, when time for a full wellness programme may be limited.
What visitors will find at Halcyon Spa
- Four treatment rooms including couples’ suite
- Sauna and steam thermal circuit
- Indoor relaxation and pool area
- Short and extended treatment options
- Family-friendly wellness experiences
Its Port Fòrum setting places guests close to beaches, cycling routes and coastal promenades that see fewer crowds than central Barcelona. Parc del Fòrum, waterfront events spaces and marina restaurants sit within walking distance, while metro links still provide direct access to the Gothic Quarter, El Born and major cultural landmarks across the city.
The opening highlights a growing shift in how Barcelona trips are planned. Many stays now mix city exploration with slower downtime near the coast rather than constant movement between attractions. Having spa facilities integrated into waterfront accommodation makes it easier to recover between travel days, especially during packed weekend visits or longer Mediterranean itineraries.
