Austrian Airlines Adds Nearly 100 Extra Flights for Autumn Getaways

Austrian Airlines has announced plans to greatly expand its fall holiday schedule for 2025, adding almost 100 new flights to Europe and the Mediterranean. The extra capacity will mostly be used in the last week of October, which is a time when people usually want to go on vacation. The airline plans to connect Austrian travelers to popular warm-weather and city destinations. This is in response to the growing trend of taking short breaks before winter schedules begin.

Although the national holidays on 26 October and 1 November fall on weekends this year, reducing the official autumn school break, the appetite for travel remains high. Austrian Airlines intends to maintain elevated capacity and encourage passengers to fly on weekdays, when more seats are available and airports are generally less crowded. These additional flights are designed to serve passengers seeking short and flexible vacations, even with the reduced holiday timeframe.

Cyprus will see more frequent service, with multiple flights scheduled on Boeing 777 aircraft to meet the rising demand from travellers. Austrian Airlines will also add more Mediterranean destinations to its list of places to fly to:

• Spain (Mallorca, Málaga, Valencia, Barcelona): 12 additional flights to Mallorca, 5 to Málaga, 4 to Valencia, and 3 to Barcelona

• Italy (Rome, Florence): 10 extra flights to Rome and 3 to Florence
• Greece (Crete, Rhodes): 11 extra flights to Crete and 2 to Rhodes

This breakdown highlights the airline’s focus on late-season sunshine destinations where weather conditions remain pleasant and travel activity continues well into autumn.

The expansion also includes increased frequencies to major European cities such as London, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Paris. The shoulder season offers a calmer atmosphere, more travel flexibility, and generally better availability compared with the busy summer months.
