London’s Next Hotel Indigo Was Once Student Housing
IHG plans to open Hotel Indigo London – Kingston in 2027, bringing a new riverside stay to Hampton Wick rather than central London. The 90-room hotel will occupy Kingston Bridge House, a former university accommodation building near the Thames. It would become Greater London’s seventh Hotel Indigo, although no precise opening date or room rates have been published. IHG announced the deal on 26 October.
The project is being developed by Westcombe Group through its Acre Hotels Collection. The vacant building will be converted into a hotel alongside 22 residential apartments, rather than replaced by a new development. IHG says the property will offer views over the Thames and design influenced by its neighbourhood. A detailed list of room categories and guest facilities has not yet been published.

This location suits visitors interested in south-west London’s historic sites and green spaces more than central sightseeing.
This address makes more sense for visitors who want quieter evenings by the river, have meetings around Kingston or plan days at Hampton Court than for those spending most of their trip in central London. Direct trains are useful, but daily journeys into the centre still take time.
