Budapest Adds Red Sea Flights and Four UK Routes
Budapest Airport’s winter timetable now offers a direct route to Egypt’s Red Sea coast and four new easyJet links with the UK. The airport is advertising more than 185 destinations, with 10% more bookable seats than last winter. Some UK services last only through the holiday season, so a December outbound flight may not have a matching return after New Year.
Which New Flights Are Coming to Budapest?
- Marsa Alam (RMF): Wizz Air from Budapest (BUD); starts 27 October; Tuesdays and Saturdays.
- London Southend (SEN): easyJet; launched 26 October; Mondays and Fridays; year-round.
- Belfast International (BFS) and Bristol (BRS): easyJet; launch 17 November; Tuesdays and Saturdays.
- Liverpool (LPL): easyJet; launches 19 November; Thursdays and Sundays.
- Seasonality: Belfast and Bristol initially listed until 2 January 2027; Liverpool until 3 January.
Wizz Air is also scheduled to fly to Oslo four times weekly, while SAS plans two daily Copenhagen flights on selected November and December dates. Budapest Airport reports 35% more seats to Scandinavia than last winter. Its announcement also describes Beijing flights as daily, although Air China’s filed timetable shows five or six services a week on some dates, making date-specific checks essential.
Budapest’s Christmas markets at St Stephen’s Basilica and Vörösmarty Square open on 13 November, just before three seasonal UK links begin. Visitors can fit the markets into short city breaks without connecting flights, while Hungary-based travellers gain extra choices for Belfast, Bristol and Liverpool. Marsa Alam offers direct access to the Red Sea coast, with Port Ghalib near the airport and more distant resorts requiring road transfers.
The short UK operating windows matter most for return journeys. Ryanair already flies directly between Budapest and both Bristol and Liverpool, providing alternatives beyond easyJet’s early-January dates. London Southend is in Essex rather than central London, so allow for onward rail travel. Anyone considering Marsa Alam should also check Egyptian visa rules before paying; both Wizz Air and easyJet charge extra for larger cabin bags on basic fares.
