The Maldives’ airline beOnd says it’s getting ready to roll out 18 fresh international routes, with takeoffs expected to begin sometime between the end of 2025 and into 2026. The expansion aims to increase direct access to Malé from cities across Europe, Asia, India, and the Middle East. The move comes in response to limited nonstop options currently available for passengers travelling to the Maldives, many of whom are required to rely on connecting flights with lengthy stopovers.

According to the airline, the upcoming routes are expected to simplify journeys for travelers starting from cities that currently lack direct services to the island nation. The goal is to save time and make travel plans easier to manage. This is especially helpful for people flying from large cities, where more travelers are now looking for simpler ways to take long-distance trips and get some proper time off. The changes reflect broader shifts in international flight patterns.

Our vision is to make the Maldives more accessible to premium travellers from around the world while offering an experience that reflects true luxury — personal, thoughtful, and inspiring.
Tero Taskila, CEO of beOnd

The airline has listed Paris, Vienna, Rome, Düsseldorf, and Warsaw among the planned European routes. In Asia, services will include Bangkok, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Indian cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad will also be added. New links are set to begin from Kuwait, Bahrain, Jeddah, and Abu Dhabi as well. Destination choices were based on outbound travel volume and route viability.

Adding these new routes could change the way people from around the world plan their journeys. Cities like Bangkok, Rome or Paris might end up as handy detours where travelers pause for a bit of sightseeing before heading off to the beach in the Maldives. In places like these, travelers can explore famous sights, enjoy local food, or visit museums, which makes them appealing stops for people who want to see more than one destination before arriving in the Maldives.

Having more flight options might catch the interest of all kinds of travelers, whether they’re coming from nearby countries or planning a long adventure across several places. By increasing nonstop options, beOnd’s new schedule may position the Maldives as a more practical and frequent stop in wider travel plans. The update could also support tourism recovery and diversify access beyond existing hubs in the region.
