Wizz Air, renowned as one of Europe's fastest-growing and most eco-friendly airlines, has officially announced the introduction of a new summer travel route. Starting from June 24, this service will connect Sofia, Bulgaria's bustling capital, to the cultural haven of Heraklion on the island of Crete. Travel enthusiasts can now book their journey via the airline's website or mobile app, with fares commencing at a competitive BGN 59.

This new route is set to operate twice weekly, with flights scheduled every Monday and Friday, providing an ideal gateway for Bulgarians and international travelers to explore the rich historical tapestry and vibrant local culture of Heraklion. The city, known for its picturesque landscapes and historical significance, offers a perfect blend of ancient artifacts and modern leisure activities.

Heraklion is celebrated for its well-preserved Old Town, featuring an exquisite mix of Venetian and Ottoman architecture. Tourists have the opportunity to delve into the authentic Cretan way of life, tasting local cuisine at traditional tavernas and visiting local markets that showcase the region's rich culinary heritage. Beyond the urban allure, Heraklion also boasts stunning beaches, where visitors can relax by the Mediterranean's crystal-clear waters or partake in a variety of water sports.

Sasha Vislaus, Wizz Air's Corporate Communications Manager, emphasized the airline's commitment to expanding its network with valuable and accessible routes. "Our goal is to continuously offer top-notch service and convenient travel options to our passengers," Vislaus stated. He further expressed excitement about enabling more people to discover Crete's captivating blend of history, culture, and scenic beauty.
