UK Sailing Holiday Firm Closes After 23 Years
A Belfast-based travel company specialising in small-group sailing holidays has ceased operations after more than two decades. Salamander Voyages, known for trips across Greece, Turkey, Italy and Croatia, has gone into administration. The closure was confirmed on 22 April 2026, when joint administrators from Keenan Corporate Finance Ltd were appointed to oversee the process.
The company announced the decision on its website, ending 23 years of sailing routes, mainly in the Aegean. Salamander Voyages focused on private boat trips, with carefully planned routes that included smaller coastal villages, quiet bays and historic places. The trips were aimed at the higher-end market, with prices starting at around £3,000 per person.
Key Details on the Closure
- Company based in Belfast
- Administration confirmed on 22 April 2026
- Operated sailing holidays in Greece, Turkey, Italy and Croatia
- Trips focused on small groups and private boats
- Future bookings now affected
Planned departures later in 2026 will not go ahead, including sailings in the Turkish Gulf set for June and October. The routes focused on more remote coastal areas and smaller stops that are usually left out of standard cruise itineraries. Customers who already booked may need to get in touch with the administrators to find out what happens next.
The closure removes one of the operators specialising in smaller sailing routes in the region. Trips that focused on less crowded parts of the Turkish coast and Greek islands may now be harder to find in the same format. Travellers interested in similar experiences may need to look at alternative providers or consider different ways to access these locations.
