Otago has been named one of the "most welcoming" regions in the world in the Booking.com 2024 Traveller Review Awards. It entered the top 10 of the world ranking, taking 8th place, and became the only New Zealand region on the list.

The first place was taken by the British region of Perthshire. These tourist destinations were recognized for their friendly local people, high-quality service, and beautiful attractions. The full list was published by Hospitalitynet.

Otago, a region in the southeast of New Zealand's South Island, is famous for its picturesque landscapes, rich history, and unique culture.

Tourists will be fascinated by places such as Milford Sound, one of the most famous fjords in the world, surrounded by mountains, waterfalls and glaciers, and Fiordland National Park.

The Otago Peninsula, with its mountains, beaches, forests and wildlife, gives you the opportunity to feel united with nature. And Lake Pukaki with its turquoise glacial water, surrounded by mountains, is a real highlight of the region.

Otago is also rich in historical and cultural attractions. The city of Dunedin, founded by Scottish settlers, has preserved its deep history and architecture. Here you can visit the University of Otago, the oldest university in New Zealand, as well as the Otago Museum, one of the oldest and richest museums in the country.

While travelling in Otago, you will also have the opportunity to experience traditional Maori culture, including their crafts, dance and music.
