Carers Travel Cheaper with 25% Off Northern Train Services During Carers Week

Northern Railway is offering a fantastic travel discount for carers in celebration of Carers Week 2024. Until Sunday, June 16, carers can enjoy a 25% discount on train services, making travel more affordable and accessible.

The discount is available through Discounts for Carers, in partnership with Network, a company specializing in employee benefits. With 2,500 daily train services, Northern makes it easier for carers to explore and travel across the North of England.

Stuart Taylor, Head of Commercial Development at Northern, highlighted the significance of this offer, saying, "There are 5.7 million unpaid carers in the UK providing essential support to friends or family members. With their thoughts focused on the welfare of others, it’s easy for those providing care to forget they themselves are eligible for support – in our case, a 25% discount on Advance Purchase tickets."

This discount not only recognizes the invaluable work of carers but also encourages them to take some time for themselves, travel, and explore new destinations. Carers Week is an annual campaign aimed at raising awareness about the challenges carers face and acknowledging their vital contributions to families and communities throughout the UK.

Northern's partnership with Discounts for Carers started in March 2023. Alongside carers, Northern also offers a 25% discount on Advance Purchase tickets to NHS workers, teachers, and employees of registered charities.

As the second-largest train operator in the UK, Northern runs 2,500 services daily, connecting over 500 stations across the North of England. This initiative is part of Northern's commitment to supporting those who make a difference in society.
