Air France is gearing up to handle an influx of passengers for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with estimates indicating that 20% of all athletes will travel with the airline. As an official partner, Air France expects to transport up to 125,000 customers per day during peak periods.

The airline will carry 15% of Olympic athletes, 35% of Paralympic athletes, and 13% of the "Olympic family," which includes members of National Olympic Committees and the International Organizing Committee. To manage the high demand, Air France has ramped up its operations and logistics.

Passenger traffic is expected to peak from July 24-26 and August 11-13, coinciding with the opening and closing ceremonies. To meet this demand, Air France has added reserve aircraft and increased staffing levels, with over 2,000 new hires in 2023, including pilots and mechanics.

A special check-in service will be available for athletes at the Olympic and Paralympic Village, allowing them to check in their baggage a day before departure. This service aims to streamline the travel process for athletes and their equipment.

Air France is also preparing to handle a significant increase in oversize baggage, such as sports equipment, and has put measures in place to ensure the smooth handling of this additional load. Para-athletes will receive dedicated support to manage their specific needs, including wheelchair assistance.

With these preparations, Air France aims to provide a seamless travel experience for athletes and other attendees of the Paris 2024 Games, highlighting the airline’s role in supporting this major international event.
