This November, Dublin’s Creative Quarter will see the opening of The Hoxton, the brand’s first property in Ireland. The new hotel occupies a restored Victorian building on Exchequer Street, formerly known as the Central Hotel. It will feature 129 rooms alongside several public areas, including a lobby that incorporates Viking-era remains, a Peruvian-inspired restaurant, a café that turns into a wine bar, and the return of the established local venue, the Library Bar.

The redesign, completed by Ennismore’s AIME Studios, combines traditional architectural details with modern industrial features. Among the facilities are:

  • A lobby that transitions from daytime workspace into an evening setting with drinks and food.
  • Groundwork, a basement nightlife venue introducing a new option for social gatherings.

This combination highlights a balance between contemporary use and the historic character of the location.

Travellers staying near the hotel can easily reach George’s Street Arcade, an indoor market established in the Victorian era that continues to host independent vendors. Within its covered halls, visitors will be able to explore antiques, clothing, handmade crafts, and vintage items, which together illustrate Dublin’s long-established tradition of local retail. The arcade offers visitors an easy way to experience authentic shopping while remaining in a space that has maintained its historic character for more than a hundred years.

Close to the hotel, Powerscourt Townhouse Centre, a historic Georgian building, has been adapted to house both retail and leisure facilities. The centre accommodates jewellery designers, antique merchants, and fashion boutiques, all housed within interiors that retain their eighteenth-century design. For those seeking a cultural atmosphere outside conventional tourist attractions, Temple Bar is also close by. Cobblestone streets, pubs offering live music, and artisan shops together create a neighborhood that illustrates Dublin’s combination of historic charm and contemporary nightlife.

With The Hoxton now open, the city’s accommodation offerings are expanded in a central area that provides easy access to transport and nearby attractions. For travellers, it provides direct access to shopping, dining, and cultural areas without the need to rely on extensive transport across the city. Being situated in the Creative Quarter emphasizes Dublin’s compact layout, making it easy for visitors to reach multiple attractions on foot. This addition highlights Dublin as a compact city where historical heritage and contemporary urban life coexist.
