Iași Gets Two Italian Routes as Wizz Air Widens Summer Reach
Wizz Air has confirmed two new Italian routes from Iași for the 2026 summer season, adding direct flights to Milan Malpensa and Pisa with fares from RON 99. The Milan link begins on 20 May, operating on Wednesdays and Sundays, while Pisa follows on 23 May with Tuesday and Saturday flights. Tickets are already available online, with the carrier highlighting growing regional demand for affordable links to Italy.
Alongside the Iași additions, Wizz Air is expanding from Chișinău, where four new routes are scheduled to launch in May and June 2026. Cologne and Basel Mulhouse will open in May, followed by Rhodes and Rimini in June. The airline framed these developments as part of its continued investment in Romania and Moldova, noting more than 19 years of activity in the market and a steadily growing presence across the region.
New Summer 2026 Routes
- Milan Malpensa (from Iași): from 20 May, Wed/Sun
- Pisa (from Iași): from 23 May, Tue/Sat
- Cologne (from Chișinău): May
- Basel Mulhouse (from Chișinău): May
- Rhodes (from Chișinău): June
- Rimini (from Chișinău): June
The additions create direct access to several high-interest regions. Milan connects Iași with northern Italy’s business districts, trade fairs and transport corridors towards the Alps. Tuscany becomes easily reachable via Pisa, with rail links onward to Florence, Lucca and Siena. Chișinău gains entry points to the Rhine–Ruhr via Cologne and to the tri-border region via Basel Mulhouse, while Rhodes and Rimini offer Mediterranean beach towns, cultural heritage and island options.
Extra flights mean people in Iași and Chișinău can reach parts of Italy and western Europe without changing planes. Milan and Pisa work for year-round travel, while the Chișinău routes give additional options once the summer season starts. Іtaly has been a steady favourite on Romanian and Moldovan departure boards for years, so adding seats rather than cutting them looks like a practical move rather than an experiment.
