Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) in South Carolina and Germany’s Hahn Airport (HHN) have signed a new cooperation agreement. The partnership builds on years of collaboration and aims to expand passenger services in particular. Joint working groups will address daily operations, new technologies, safety, sustainability, and customer service, reflecting a shared ambition to offer travellers more reliable and convenient journeys.

Hahn is one of the few airports in Germany that can operate around the clock, while GSP serves as a key hub for the southeastern United States. Their strategic locations make both airports important gateways for international travel. The partnership should make travel between Europe and the US easier, with possible new links to Mexico and South America. It will offer more options for both holidaymakers and business travellers.

While the agreement applies to cargo, it has some impact on passengers. Closer cooperation between the airports could support the launch of new direct routes and attract additional airlines. This would mean fewer transfers, faster trips, and give passengers a variety of potential destinations. For many, the journey will become more straightforward and predictable.

Another important aspect of the cooperation will be sharing expertise in airport management. The two airports will share experience in sustainability, passenger services, and security. With this deal, GSP and Hahn aim to work more efficiently, offer better service, and make the check-in and boarding process easier for passengers. It’s a clear benefit for passengers who want comfort and dependable travel.

“We are delighted to partner with GSP. This collaboration is a testament to our shared vision of growth and innovation. By combining our strengths and sharing proven processes, we can create new opportunities for passenger and cargo traffic between our regions and customers. This will be a fruitful and long-term collaboration that will benefit both the airports and our respective regions."
Rüdiger Franke, CEO of Hahn Airport

The deal has many practical benefits: stronger ties between Greenville-Spartanburg and Hahn could mean more non-stop flights, faster connections, and better services both in the air and on the ground. The agreement demonstrates how international partnerships can directly improve the passenger experience, making cross-Atlantic journeys easier and opening the door to new travel opportunities in the years ahead.
