Central Europe Gets a 1,300km Train Link

Leo Express will launch a new long-distance rail service on 25 June, creating one of Europe’s longest direct train routes. The Prague-based operator will run the service between Przemyśl in south-eastern Poland and Frankfurt Airport, covering more than 1,300 kilometres across Poland, Czechia and Germany. Seats between Poland and Germany are expected to start at €10.
The route will link several major cities in one journey, including Kraków, Ostrava, Prague, Dresden, Leipzig, Erfurt and Frankfurt am Main. Leo Express says there will be one daily service in each direction. The line also brings a direct rail link closer to Ukraine, as Przemyśl sits near the country’s western border.
When the airport train will run
The planned schedule includes:
- Przemyśl departure: 13:31
- Frankfurt Airport arrival: 07:53 the next day
- Frankfurt Airport departure: 08:27
- Przemyśl arrival: 02:23 the next day
- Onboard facilities: Wi-Fi, power sockets, refreshments and air conditioning
The arrival time at Frankfurt Airport is designed to suit onward flights.
The route will make multi-country rail trips easier for passengers who want to avoid several separate bookings. Kraków, Prague, Dresden and Leipzig become part of one direct corridor, while Frankfurt Airport adds access to European and long-haul flights. The service could also help people travelling between Germany, Czechia, Poland and onward towards western Ukraine.
The launch stands out because it connects regular city travel with airport access and cross-border mobility in one timetable. It is not only a scenic rail journey, but a practical link for passengers who need to move across this part of Europe without piecing the trip together themselves.
