Brightline announced that Siemens Mobility has been chosen as the most advantageous tenderer for manufacturing trains for the Brightline West high-speed rail project connecting Las Vegas and Southern California.

Siemens' selection follows a lengthy competitive procurement process involving several global competitors. The selection criteria included price, manufacturing schedule, train efficiency, ADA compliance, passenger comfort, and future compatibility with the California High-Speed Rail project.

Siemens will produce ten "American Pioneer 220" (AP 220) trains tailored for the American market. These trains will be manufactured in compliance with all "Buy America" requirements, supporting domestic production. The agreement includes a 30-year contract for rolling stock maintenance, providing jobs for operational crews at Brightline West's facility in Sloan, Nevada.

The AP220 trains represent a breakthrough in high-speed rail technology, offering advanced passenger experiences and a revolutionary propulsion system. Siemens will establish a new factory in the United States to manufacture these trains, bolstering the domestic rail industry.

Marc Buncher, CEO of Siemens Mobility North America, highlighted Siemens' expertise in rail technology and its commitment to transforming rail transportation in America.

The AP 220 will be the first true high-speed trains manufactured in America, capable of speeds up to 220 miles per hour. These trains prioritize passenger comfort and accessibility, exceeding ADA requirements.

Brightline, known for its environmentally friendly intercity passenger rail service, aims to revolutionize rail transportation by efficiently connecting cities. Brightline West will be the first true high-speed passenger rail system in the country, offering speeds of up to 200 miles per hour.
