ScotRail Expands Train Services for Glasgow Summer Sessions Concerts

Glasgow's Summer Sessions festival continued this week with several major headline concerts expected to attract crowds of up to thirty-five thousand people each evening at Bellahouston Park. To support the increased demand, ScotRail introduced additional train capacity and revised evening services for the remaining performances, including shows by Alanis Morissette, Pitbull, Kings of Leon and My Chemical Romance. The temporary transport plan is intended to improve passenger movement before and after each event.

Extra carriages were added to Paisley Canal trains, while dedicated shuttle services between Dumbreck and Glasgow Central were scheduled after every concert to handle the late-night rush. From ten o'clock each evening, regular trains between Glasgow Central and Paisley Canal were replaced by buses, allowing more rail services to operate closer to the festival site, although replacement buses did not serve Dumbreck or Corkerhill because of local road restrictions.

Many visitors travelling from elsewhere in Scotland can reach Glasgow Central directly before transferring to services serving the Bellahouston area. Those arriving from cities such as Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee or Aberdeen are advised to check departure times before travelling and purchase return tickets in advance to avoid delays. ScotRail also warned that managed queuing systems may operate at Glasgow Central before concerts and at Dumbreck afterwards, with additional staff available to assist passengers throughout the busiest periods.
