SkyUp Opens Vienna–Chișinău Route for 2027

SkyUp Airlines will add Vienna to its scheduled network from Chișinău in summer 2027, marking the carrier’s first appearance at Vienna Airport. The new route will strengthen links between Austria and Moldova and add another Central European option for people travelling through Chișinău. The airport has become particularly important for Ukrainian travellers since Ukraine’s airspace remains closed to civilian flights.

SkyUp says the Vienna route is part of a wider summer 2027 expansion from Chișinău, when its schedule will cover 26 destinations across 11 countries. Vienna Airport describes the city pair as an established market with growing demand between Moldova and Central Europe. Tickets are already on sale, alongside other new SkyUp routes from Chișinău including Prague, Paris and Düsseldorf.
The new flights also make Chișinău a simpler starting point for exploring Moldova. The capital has parks, museums and a growing food and wine scene, while two of the country’s best-known wine attractions sit nearby. Cricova is known for its underground limestone tunnels, while Mileștii Mici holds a record for its vast wine collection stored in underground galleries, both close to the capital.
The Vienna service also adds another option for Ukrainians who currently use Chișinău for international flights while Ukraine’s airspace remains closed to civilian aviation. A direct connection with Vienna could make trips through Moldova easier, especially for those continuing overland to Ukraine. The twice-weekly timetable is fairly limited, however, so anyone building a longer journey around the flight will need to match onward transport with the Thursday and Sunday departures.
