Newcastle–Copenhagen Flights Stay for Winter
Norwegian has put winter seats on sale for its Newcastle–Copenhagen service after strong demand. The route will continue beyond the warmer season, giving North East passengers a direct Denmark option during the Christmas market and New Year months. Newcastle Airport says the extension should also bring more Danish visitors to the region during winter, without needing another UK airport connection.

Copenhagen has plenty to fill a winter weekend. Travellers can visit Christmas markets, see Tivoli Gardens lit up for the season, skate at Frederiksberg Runddel or walk around Nyhavn and the canals. December also brings Danish favourites such as gløgg and risalamande, plus the Saint Lucy’s Day kayak procession on 13 December, when illuminated boats pass through the city.
The direct flights are handy for people across Newcastle, Durham, Sunderland and the wider North East who do not want to start the trip with a transfer through London or Manchester. Copenhagen works well for a short winter break, with Nyhavn, Strøget, Tivoli, canal walks and food stops easy to fit into two or three days. The route also gives Danish visitors a simpler way into Newcastle, Northumberland and the coast.
The winter extension is most useful for travellers who can work around a Friday-to-Sunday schedule and want a simple festive break without extra UK transfers. The lowest fare will not suit every date, so it is worth checking bag rules, flight times and hotel prices before booking. Fixed December weekends may sell quickly, especially around markets, New Year and Saint Lucy’s Day.
