In the Slovak city of Liptovský Mikuláš, a bear attacked passersby for the second time in three days. Two people are in the hospital

According to the BBC, a 49-year-old woman suffered a shoulder injury, and a 72-year-old man - a head wound. Police managed to drive the predator into the forest.

At the same time, videos showing the bear running on the road and attacking a person lying on the sidewalk appeared on social media.

It is emphasised that Slovakia has seen a number of bear attacks in recent years, including one fatal attack in 2021, which was the country's first in a century.

Experts say that improved environmental protection in Central and Eastern Europe has led to bears returning to their natural ranges across the Carpathian mountain range, which stretches from Romania through western Ukraine to Slovakia and Poland.

The Ministry of Environment has already stated that it will submit a proposal to the next meeting of the EU Council of Environment Ministers, together with Romania, to transfer bears to the list of protected species as their numbers mean that they are no longer endangered and can be selectively hunted.

It is added that the other day in the Slovak Tatras, a bear attacked a couple of tourists from Belarus. One woman died.

The tragic incident occurred on March 15 in the Liptov region (Slovakia, Tatras). Rescuers received a report that two people had encountered a bear on a hiking trail. The couple tried to escape from the predator and ran in different directions.

The bear allegedly chased the woman. According to the mountain rescue service, the woman tried to run away from the predator but fell down a steep slope. She died as a result of her injuries. Her body was found by a sniffer dog.

The 31-year-old woman and 29-year-old man were identified as Belarusians.

Meanwhile, an unfortunate incident with a tourist occurred near Florida. According to TravelWise, he was attacked by one of the rare species of crocodiles.
