Families booking future breaks in England could face an extra £100 on their accommodation bill under plans confirmed in the UK Budget on 28 October 2026. The proposal follows a government consultation and a September announcement giving local leaders more control over tourism funding. A family of four booking an £800 holiday let could pay £40 extra at an illustrative 5%, while a couple spending £2,000 on a hotel could pay £100. Some Labour mayors have pledged a 5% limit, but no nationwide statutory cap has been agreed.
