TAP’s Caracas Flights Return to the Timetable

TAP Air Portugal has announced the return of direct Lisbon–Caracas flights following the earthquakes that damaged Venezuela’s main international airport in June. The airline scheduled its first service for 27 October 2026, bringing back a route used by families, business travellers and Portugal’s Venezuelan community. It also offers a simpler journey than the temporary flights to Valencia, although passengers should verify that their departure is operating.
When TAP’s Caracas Flights Operate
- Airline: TAP Air Portugal.
- Route: Lisbon Humberto Delgado (LIS)–Caracas Simón Bolívar (CCS), nonstop.
- Start announced: 27 October 2026.
- Frequency: Tuesdays and Sundays, two weekly return flights.
- Tuesday outbound: 11:50–17:00; return: 21:00–09:00 next day.
- Sunday outbound: 10:00–15:05; return: 18:55–06:55 next day.
- Times: Local in each city.
- Season: No end date announced.
TAP advertised return fares from €669, including taxes, although current prices may differ. Customers with Caracas tickets issued by 24 June for travel by 31 October can change dates within their tickets’ validity under TAP’s disruption notice. This does not automatically cover new bookings. Crucially, flight trackers list the announced 27 October departure as cancelled, so check your particular service directly with TAP before making other arrangements.
The restored route would let people visiting relatives in Caracas arrive at the capital’s main airport rather than continue overland from Valencia. It also reconnects Lisbon with access to Caracas’s historic centre and El Hatillo for those with essential reasons to travel. However, the airport is in Maiquetía, and earthquake damage in neighbouring La Guaira means transport arrangements should be confirmed before arrival, preferably with trusted contacts.
UK advice still discourages all but essential travel to Caracas, and travelling against that advice can affect insurance cover. British passport holders arriving by air can receive a tourist card for visits of up to 90 days, but need onward or return tickets and passports valid for six months beyond departure. Check entry rules for your nationality, flight status and a pre-arranged airport transfer before committing to a booking.
