Ryanair’s New Croatia Flights Beat a 15-Hour Drive

A trip to Croatia from Germany’s Lake Constance region could soon take less time than a long afternoon on the motorway. Ryanair has announced direct flights between Friedrichshafen and Zadar for summer 2027, offering holidaymakers and people visiting relatives an alternative to road journeys that can take up to 15 hours. It is the airline’s third new destination announced from Friedrichshafen this month.

Friedrichshafen Airport has its own railway station, with RB91 trains connecting it to Friedrichshafen Stadt and Ravensburg. This makes the new route accessible without a car, although train times should be checked against flight departures. If the Monday and Friday services do not suit your plans, Ryanair also flies directly between Memmingen and Zadar, giving travellers another option when comparing dates and fares.
Zadar’s old town has Roman ruins, waterfront cafés and the Sea Organ, whose pipes sound as waves roll in. Nearby, the Greeting to the Sun lights up after dark. Nin’s Queen’s Beach and Paklenica National Park offer beach days and hiking, while boat trips explore the Kornati islands. The airport bus also stops at Gaženica Ferry Port, with ferries to nearby Ugljan.
Zadar Airport’s bus currently costs €5 to the old town and takes about 20 minutes. The ticket includes luggage and onward city bus travel within 90 minutes, and you can pay by cash or card on board. The 2027 timetable is not yet available. Ryanair’s basic fare covers a 40 × 30 × 20cm under-seat bag; larger luggage costs extra, so include that when comparing total costs.
