Victorian Steam Train Celebrates Railway Bicentenary
New Year’s Day 2025 will see the iconic Victorian T3 steam locomotive No. 563, built in 1893, mark the beginning of the Railway 200 celebrations. Departing from Swanage station at midday, the locomotive will carry passengers to Corfe Castle and Norden, joining a nationwide commemoration of 200 years of railway innovation. From December 27, 2024, to January 5, 2025, the Swanage Railway will operate a special schedule through Dorset’s Isle of Purbeck.
