Jet2 Turns a 189-Seat Plane Into a VIP Jet

Jet2 has flown its first passengers aboard a specially converted business-class jet, opening a new option for groups that need more privacy and flexibility than a regular flight offers. But this is not a premium cabin being added to Jet2’s holiday routes. The aircraft works on a different booking model, and who can use it depends on the type of trip being organised.
Who Can Book Jet2’s New VIP Plane?
- Airline and aircraft: Jet2 Charter, Boeing 737-800NG.
- Base: Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL).
- Launch: First charter flights completed by 28 October 2026.
- Availability: October 2026–May 2027; chartered on request.
- Routes: No fixed destinations or published timetable.
- Customers: Sports, music, corporate and specialist groups.
- Booking: Enquire at [email protected] for routes, availability and prices; individual tickets are not sold online.
The converted Boeing 737-800NG now carries 76 business-class passengers instead of the usual 189, with at least 43 inches of legroom. Jet2 offers tailored catering, but has not published a charter fare or a list of destinations. Organisers need a quotation for their chosen dates and route. Private check-in, specialist baggage and airport support can be discussed, rather than assumed to be included in every booking.
A football club could travel to an away fixture without splitting players and equipment across flights; a touring band could arrange a departure around its concert dates. Jet2 says it can handle requests for sports kit, oversized bags and catering preferences. Liverpool is the aircraft’s base, so organisers wanting another departure airport should ask whether Jet2 can accommodate it before arranging their onward journey.
“This is the first time that we have featured a dedicated business class specification on our aircraft, so this is an incredibly exciting development for charter customers. The feedback from charter customers who have flown on it has been exceptional, with the premium feel, space and comfort onboard really shining through. This luxurious cabin environment, alongside the award-winning Jet2 customer service, looks set to be a huge hit with charter clients this winter."
Hiring a whole plane will not suit every group. Jet2 also takes bookings for ten or more passengers on scheduled flights, with non-refundable £30-per-person deposits that may be higher for some groups. Full payment is due ten weeks before departure; later cancellations cost the entire fare. Names are due 15 days ahead; changes made 14 days to 24 hours before departure cost £35 per person per flight.
