The Minnesota National Park has made it to the top 50 best travel destinations in 2024
Voyageurs National Park is located in northern Minnesota, just a few hours' drive from any major city. One-third of the park is covered by water and contains more than 500 forested islands. That's why most of the land is accessible only by boat.
Voyageurs National Park has been selected as one of the best travel destinations in the world for 2024, according to the online guide Travel Lemming. This natural attraction was ranked 11th and was the only national park on the list of the world's top 50 tourist destinations, as reported by KROC News.
"Watercolor sunsets, starry night skies, and even the northern lights grace this remote spot on the Minnesota-Canada border. Paddle a 26-foot northern canoe or rent a houseboat to explore more than 500 forested islands," the description from Travel Lemming reads.
It is noted that this international park has more than 150 remote campsites located on forested islands. Here, tourists can rent private canoes, paddle pontoons, and even furnished houseboats for overnight stays. In addition, visitors can take part in half-day or full-day excursions, such as the Northern Canoe Trip, which immerses participants in the park's fur trade era.
However, the main reason for tourists to visit Voyageurs National Park is the scenery and the open sky. It is here that you can admire constellations, meteor streaks, and even the northern lights.
