Phuket’s Dara Cuisine Opens a Temporary Kitchen in Vienna

A team from Phuket’s Dara Cuisine is serving Southern Thai dishes at Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna this autumn, bringing a different regional focus to the hotel’s Brasserie Sophie. The visiting chefs come from Anantara Layan Phuket Resort and are running a temporary residency in the Austrian capital. Their arrival gives visitors another dining option during a city break, with both lunch and evening services available.
The Phuket team will remain in Vienna into December, welcoming diners for lunch and dinner throughout the residency.

- Venue: Brasserie Sophie, Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna.

- Reservations: through the hotel’s website, which also provides food and drinks menus.
Thai Recipes Meet Austrian Ingredients
Chef Supakarn ‘Hongz’ Lienpanich brings a cooking style shaped by her Thai-Chinese family background. At the hotel, that translates into dishes such as Wagyu beef satay, marinated black cod roasted in banana leaf and spring rolls filled with trout tartare. Pad Thai and Tom Kha Pla also feature, giving diners familiar starting points alongside the chef’s other preparations. The selection allows a meal to explore different parts of Dara’s menu without requiring prior knowledge of Southern Thai food.
Behind the scenes, the visiting team is working with the hotel’s chefs on ingredients and preparation methods. Lotus blossoms and leaves, sea grapes and betel pepper have found their way into the kitchen, alongside char from Lower Austria and Alpine prawns from Tyrol. This combination gives the residency a connection to its Austrian setting: local fish and seafood become part of dishes whose seasonings and techniques come from Thailand.
The event offers a reason to make food part of a Vienna itinerary, particularly for visitors who enjoy discovering a city through its restaurants. A meal here can introduce the work of a Phuket kitchen without adding another destination to the journey. With a limited run and several services each week, the residency is something to plan around an existing trip, rather than a permanent option to leave for a future visit.
