The Cairngorms National Park in the Highlands, northeast of Scotland, is receiving funding to implement the park's environmental strategy as part of the Cairngorms 2030 project. The decision to fund the park in the amount of £10.7 million was announced by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The money was provided to the Cairngorms National Park Authority to help it implement its 2030 action plan. It is noted that the transformation of Cairngorms will last five years and cost £42.3 million, as reported by insider.co.uk.

Cairngorms is the largest national park in the United Kingdom. Thus, financing of this facility will help improve sustainable tourism, as well as work on the restoration of peatlands and forests, which are key to the plan. Sandy Bremner, a spokesperson for the Cairngorms National Park Authority, said the five-year funding will "put the power of nature and the climate crisis in the hands of the people who live in the park."

"It will benefit people's health and well-being, develop sustainable transportation solutions, and help nature - and we are committed to continuing to do so for everyone who lives, works, and visits this special place," said Sandy Bremner.

According to Scotland's First Minister, Humza Yousaf, the parks in Scotland are playing a role in addressing the climate crisis and bolstering the rural communities in the region.

"The Cairngorms 2030 project serves as an excellent illustration of over 70 partners collaborating to the advantage of rural communities, businesses, and the natural environment," he stated. He further added, "Investing in safeguarding and improving Scotland's precious environment is generating significant opportunities that will be advantageous to individuals and communities throughout the nation, especially in rural areas".
