DalesBus 59 Route to Skipton Reopens: A Boost for Travelers

The much-loved DalesBus 59 service is set to resume operations from Harrogate to Skipton every Saturday, starting June 22nd. This scenic route, making stops at the Nelson Inn, Blubberhouses, and Bolton Bridge, offers a delightful travel experience for both locals and tourists. With buses departing from Harrogate Bus Station at 0945, 1145, 1445, and 1645, and returning from Skipton Bus Station at 1045, 1245, 1545, and 1745, travelers have multiple opportunities to explore these picturesque destinations.

The return of service 59 is a significant addition to the summer DalesBus timetable, now fully operational. For 2024, the timetable includes an enhanced Eastern DalesBus service 825, which will run every Sunday and Bank Holiday until October 6th. This service is a boon for travelers seeking day-out opportunities for walking and sightseeing in the stunning Nidderdale National Landscape. The bus departs from Knaresborough Bus Station at 0955 and from Harrogate Bus Station at 1015, passing through charming spots like Ripley, Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey, and more before reaching Richmond. The return journey from Richmond begins at 1515, allowing plenty of time to enjoy the attractions.

Year-round, other DalesBus services from Harrogate continue to enhance travel experiences. Service 24 to Pateley Bridge in the Nidderdale National Landscape operates daily, with onward connections from Pateley Bridge to Upper Nidderdale and Grassington on Summer Sundays and Bank Holidays. Additionally, service 74 to Ilkley, Bolton Abbey, and Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales National Park runs every Saturday, providing more options for weekend getaways.

Travelers will appreciate that all local bus services are subject to the national cap on bus fares, making the single fare for any journey just £2. This affordability, combined with the convenience and scenic routes, makes the DalesBus services an attractive choice for exploring the Yorkshire Dales.

The reintroduction of these services not only provides practical transport solutions but also promotes sustainable travel. By opting for bus travel, visitors can reduce their carbon footprint while enjoying the natural beauty of the region.
