An uncontrolled train in India traveled 70 km without a driver
A strange but dangerous railroad incident occurred in India, raising safety concerns. On February 25, a freight train set off on a journey without a driver.
The train traveled more than 70 kilometers from Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir to Hoshiarpur district in Punjab. The video has already been posted online, according to Albawaba.
The incident reportedly occurred when the train driver failed to apply the handbrake before disembarking at Pathankot station. This caused the train to start moving on the track without supervision.
After covering a distance of approximately 70 kilometers and passing through five stations, the unmanned train loaded with stones maintained a speed of 100 kilometers per hour until it finally stopped in Uchi Bassi.
Railroad workers managed to stop the train by placing wooden blocks on the tracks. A video of the train rushing past the station at high speed quickly spread on social media, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Despite ongoing investigations, the exact cause of the incident remains uncertain, officials said.
Authorities have launched an investigation to pinpoint any potential security flaws that may have contributed to the incident. They emphasized the need to immediately identify and address such deficiencies to prevent similar incidents in the future.
