Passengers departing from Tallinn can now fly directly to Budapest for the first time, following Wizz Air’s launch of a new route on 11 December. Until now, reaching the Hungarian capital required a transfer, adding time and cost to the journey. The new route runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with a flight time of about two hours and twenty minutes. Its introduction marks a notable step in broadening Tallinn’s winter air links.

Tallinn Airport welcomed the launch, noting that Budapest has long been a destination of interest for Estonian travellers seeking cultural breaks, spa holidays, and business trips. Airport representatives said the route strengthens cooperation with Wizz Air, which has expanded its Tallinn network at a fast pace this winter. The airline’s growing presence provides more choice during a period when direct flights are particularly valued by passengers planning shorter seasonal trips.

Wizz Air’s leadership called the Tallinn–Budapest route an important step in the airline’s long-term plans for Estonia. The carrier notes rising demand, sees room for further expansion, and intends to add more options while keeping fares within a budget-friendly range. Alongside Budapest, Wizz Air is adding flights to Kraków and Venice, operating daily services to Vilnius, and preparing to open a new route to Gdańsk in May 2026. These developments collectively widen opportunities for Estonian residents and increase inbound travel to the country.

Current Wizz Air Destinations from Tallinn

  • Budapest: three weekly flights, from €31.99
  • Kraków: four weekly flights, from €24.99
  • London: three weekly flights, from €22.99
  • Venice: two weekly flights, from €29.99
  • Vilnius (12 Dec 2025): daily flights, from €14.99
  • Gdańsk (1 May 2026): five weekly flights, from €49.99
“Wizz Air’s direct flights to Budapest are an important addition to our route network. Budapest is a versatile destination for cultural, spa and business trips, and passengers have long been interested in flying there but have had to rely on connecting flights. This winter season, Wizz Air has rapidly expanded its Tallinn route network, and we are very pleased to see that our cooperation remains strong and continues to bring travellers more convenient and affordable connections."
Margot Holts, Head of Marketing and Communications at Tallinn Airport

The new Budapest connection opens the door to one of Central Europe’s most recognised capitals, known for thermal baths, Danube river views, and historic districts that remain lively throughout the year. With additional links to Poland, Italy, and Lithuania, Wizz Air’s winter schedule supports both weekend breaks and longer holidays. Tallinn’s growing set of direct routes strengthens its position as a northern travel hub. With more point-to-point connections available, people can reach a wider range of European cities without depending on transfers, which makes winter and spring planning far more straightforward.
