Nantes Gains New Flights to Egypt, Morocco and Cape Verde

Nantes Atlantique Airport is adding five nonstop routes in a single week, giving western France new direct links to Belgium, Morocco, Egypt and Cape Verde. easyJet and Transavia are operating the services, which range from short city breaks to winter escapes beyond mainland Europe. The biggest gain is for passengers heading to destinations such as Luxor and São Vicente, who can now fly there without a connection.
Five New Nonstop Routes from Nantes
- Brussels (BRU): easyJet; 26 October; Mondays/Fridays; from €35.
- Essaouira (ESU): easyJet; 27 October; Tuesdays/Saturdays; from €50.
- Cairo (CAI): Transavia; 28 October; Wednesdays; from €69.
- São Vicente (VXE): Transavia; 30 October; Fridays; from €95.
- Luxor (LXR): easyJet; 31 October; Saturdays; fares vary.
- Season: Autumn–winter 2026–27; ending dates vary by route.
- Nantes transfer: Airport shuttle, about 20 minutes; €10.
- Prices: Originally advertised one-way fares; current prices and availability vary.
- Bookings: Directly with airlines.
Brussels flights use Zaventem (BRU), not Charleroi, while Transavia lands at Cairo International (CAI), not Sphinx. Nantes Airport's €10 shuttle takes around 20 minutes to the station and runs every 30 minutes during winter. For baggage, easyJet's free under-seat allowance is 45 × 36 × 20 cm; Transavia's is smaller at 40 × 30 × 20 cm. Both charge extra for larger cabin bags.
The Egyptian routes open up different journeys: Cairo for the Giza pyramids and museums, Luxor for Karnak and the Valley of the Kings. Essaouira offers Morocco's Atlantic medina, while São Vicente gives access to Mindelo and a roughly 40-minute ferry to Santo Antão. Brussels Airport's train reaches Brussels-Central in about 18 minutes, with a €6.90 airport supplement usually included in the ticket price.
With most routes running only once or twice a week, a missed return could mean several extra nights abroad. British passport holders travelling to Cairo or Luxor usually need an Egyptian visa: the standard visa on arrival costs US$30. Cape Verde requires traveller pre-registration at least five days ahead, and missing it can double the airport security fee. Check ferry timings on São Vicente before reserving accommodation on Santo Antão.
