A recent tweet by a traveler shocked by a nearly £800 price tag for an item has gone viral, amassing over 6.3 million views. The incident occurred when Twitter user @MXOFO, shared their disbelief over the high cost of a ticket, sparking widespread attention and discussion online. The tweet, which quickly gained traction, simply read: "For a return from Newcastle to London. @LNER, are you out of your actual minds?!"This concise yet powerful statement resonated with many users who engaged with the tweet, sharing their own experiences and opinions on high travel costs.

Within hours, the tweet had garnered millions of views and thousands of comments and retweets. Many users expressed their agreement with the traveler’s frustration, while others attempted to rationalize the high price, suggesting possible justifications such as exclusive services or premium features.

Among the numerous comments, one user remarked, "Incoming miss-the-point-merchants assuming it must be departing in the next 14 seconds and/or be cheaper elsewhere with a split ticket or something. The fact these prices even exist at any point in the journey means the system is broken."

In contrast, another user expressed skepticism, stating, "I call bullshit. Plenty of tickets next Tuesday open return for 156. Do this route (actually from Alnmouth so further) few times a month and never paid more than 180." This prompted a direct response from @MXOFO: "You can call whatever you want, Gavin. I'm way too busy to have concocted a fake train price. Are you OK?"

Adding to the conversation, a different user proposed an alternative travel plan: "Here is an idea: Flight to Paris, eat a nice lunch. Flight to London, TFL Underground to destination. Quick maths this would be 178£."

These exchanges underscore the importance of savvy travel planning. Travelers need to be adept at searching for tickets well in advance and maintaining a flexible schedule to avoid exorbitant costs. By doing so, they can navigate the complexities of pricing systems and find more affordable options. This incident serves as a reminder that with careful preparation and adaptability, travelers can better manage their expenses and enjoy more stress-free journeys.
